Vespa World Days
2009 in Zell am See!
This years Vespa World Days will take place
from Thursday 11th of june until Sunday
14th of june 2009 in Zell am See. Almost
2000 friends of the italian Cult-Scooter will
be expected at the worldwide largest and most
important meeting. Contents of the program among
other things are trips to the Pinzgauer mountain
landscape, Events and Celebrations, as well
as an impressive Gala-dinner on Saturday evening.
The Vespa World Days 2009 stand
completely in the indication of the encounter
between the Pinzgauer tradition and the Italian
awareness of life. Four days long, two myths,
the traditions and the awareness of life, will
intermix. The Pinzgau with its breath-taking
mountain area, the cultivated tradition and
the multicolored folklore meets the Italian
attitude towards life of the Cult- Scooter,
which moved a whole nation and today is mutated
to a symbol, for everything which Italian awareness
of life represents.
The start of the Vespa World Days is Thursday
the 11th of june 2009 with an unique ride to
and on top of the dam wall of the high mountain
reservoir in Kaprun. In the evening the „Vespisti“
will enjoy a rich picnic on the lake, with young
bands, performing on the lake stage. The day
after (Friday 12th of june 2009) the program
includes a ride on the Großglockner as
well as a Castle Night on the Castle Kaprun,
surrounded by a pigling dinner and Top Bands
in the castle courtyard. Saturday (13th of june
2009) starts with an impressive corso around
the Zeller Lake, which will be accompanied by
lots of action and interesting stops.
The Gala Dinner will be featured by a great
avant-garde Show as well as performance of Top
musicians. On Sunday the 14th of june 2009 it
is time so say farewell. In order to keep the
„See-You“ and „Ciao“
wrench within bounds, we have organized a big
morning get-together with tasty delicacy of
the region and local music.
Europe-wide Vespa meetings exist already since
the fifties. Almost ten years after the construction
of the first Vespa, some drives met in Paris
(1959) for a two-day Event. From then on, meetings
where organized yearly in different countries
under the name of „Eurovespa“. The
first Eurovespa Meeting in Austria was organized
in Salzburg 1961. Followed by Krems (1987),
Vienna (2003) and Krumpendorf/Pörtschach
(2005). Because more and more Vespa Drivers
from other continents drove to the Events, the
Event received new structures and was accomplished
in 2007 in San Marino, for the first time under
the new label „Vespa World Days“.
Zell am See has not only the great task to organize
this Event but also has the privilege to organize
the first meeting outside of Italy.
The Vespa World Days in Zell am See have also
an interesting aspect to the domestic economy,
the tourism and not least for the culture. An
inquiry at the last year organization place
Cefalu (Sicily) resulted, that in the four days
of the Events 2008 the hotel trade, the catering
trade and the other in the Event involved enterprises,
gained a turnover of almost 2.5 million euros.
